Corporate Practice
We provide small and mid-sized businesses with the legal guidance and representation needed for today’s challenging marketplace. With the formulation, acquisition, and disposition of each new business entity, our services extend to the preparation and negotiation of all company agreements including but not limited to: Operating, Shareholder, Employment, Separation/Severance, Options, Non-Disclosure, Confidentiality, and Agreements. In financing, we prepare and negotiate all loan documents including but not limited to promissory notes, guarantees, loan and security agreements, and all other ancillary documentation. For new business entrepreneurs and investors, our firm provides special start-up counseling and offers guidance to new owners in choosing the appropriate entity vehicle to best accomplish their goals.
Estate and Family Planning
The Estate Planning practice is devoted to the preservation of our clients’ hard-earned capital and the avoidance of unnecessary taxes and expenditures. The firm specializes in the drafting of all pertinent documentation including wills, life insurance trusts, family limited liability companies and partnerships, living wills, and health care proxies.
MEET THE TEAM
Michael J. Simon, J.D. is a proven expert in the fields of real estate law and corporate transactions. As the founder of the Law Offices of Michael J. Simon, he has earned the reputation as an effective negotiator and thoughtful legal strategist who is deeply committed to protecting the rights and interests of all his clients.
Michael graduated cum laude in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kenyon College. He then went on to receive a Masters Degree from Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs in 1980 and earned his Juris Doctor from Cardozo School of Law in 1984. Michael is a member in good standing of the Real Property Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, the Committee on Condominiums and Cooperatives, the American Bar Association and the ABA Section on Business Law. Prior to opening his own practice, Michael worked as an associate at Eisenberg Honig and Fogler, concentrating in the areas of real estate and equipment syndication. He began his career as an insurance agent at The Equitable.
Michael was born and raised in Westchester County, where he continues to reside with his wife and family.
For over twenty years, Lillian Garel has been an integral part of the Law Offices of Michael J. Simon, providing key support in all legal areas of the firm. Skillful and responsive, Lilly is uniquely adept at meeting deadlines, ensuring a timely execution of each case at the firm. This, along with her impeccable attention to detail, translates into fewer billable client hours and greater productivity on the part of our attorneys.
Her long-standing relationships with many of the firm’s clients add an important ‘personal touch’ to the way Lilly conducts business. This connection resonates throughout all of her responsibilities including assisting clients and lenders with loans, managing the overall mortgage process, compiling closing figures and meeting the necessary insurance requirements for smooth condo and co-op approvals.
A Notary Public, Lilly is also an excellent proofreader with a strong background in legal finance. She graduated from Pace University in 1996 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration in General Accounting.
